MPP says 1999 Report Debunks Drug Czar’s Theory

According to a dispatch from the Marijuana Policy Project (MPP), a report from the Institute of Medicine, commissioned by the White House drug czar’s office, which was released in 1997, “contradicted the claims of the drug czar and other federal officials.”

According to the dispatch:

“1. It showed there is scientific evidence indicating that marijuana has medical uses.

2. It recommended that people with AIDS, cancer, and chronic pain who have an urgent need for marijuana be provided with immediate legal protection while further research is done on marijuana’s medical uses.

3. It debunked the “gateway theory,” saying that there is no evidence that using marijuana will “lead” someone to use cocaine and other drugs.

4. It said there is no evidence that allowing sick people to use medical marijuana will cause an increase in the recreational use of marijuana.

That report has been used as the intellectual foundation of most medical marijuana efforts in the decade since.”

I still think that freedom and  responsibility for self make the best possible society. I hope that we will return to those principles and stop the drug war.

“The U.S. Government has abandoned the Rule of Law as defined by the People via the Constitution.”

The numerous crises currently confronting our Republic are not the result of poor political policies. These evils are the direct result of decades of violations of the U.S. Constitution by our servant Government.

nolanchart.com: Ron Paul at DUI School

Check out this excellent article at nolanchart.com about a thinking individual who questions the brainwashing at a DUI school.

From the article:

There is absolutely nothing that justifies these tyrannical, life- destroying laws. It is sad that a few thousand people a year die because people drive after drinking. But by creating an “issue” called “drunk driving” and creating criminals called “drunk drivers” and selling it through emotional propaganda, the general population goes mindlessly along with the song and dance. Less than 5,000 lives lost despite the laws vs. 1+ million lives ruined annually as a direct result of these laws. Think about that.

An Open Letter to the Black Community in Behalf of Ron Paul

“Blacks in America have long been victims of the state and its allies. From slavery to the war on drugs, laws which prevent a person using his own body and property as he sees fit, have had terrible effects on generations of black folk.”

Block Extradition of Emery

The Canadian government is considering extradition of Marc Emery to the US for selling marijuana seeds on line. But the guy is Canadian, so it makes little sense that he should suffer a trial in the US.

If you don’t think the US should be in the business of prosecuting foreigners for acts they committed on foreign soil, then sign the petition. I think it would be very impressive tp the Justice Minister of Canada to read all of the Canadian and American signatures side by side telling him the same thing: NO EXTRADITION!

Here is the link to the petition site: http://www.petitiononline.com/Emery/petition.html.

SF Mayor Gavin Newsom: War On Drugs Is A Failure

Both the S.F. Mayor and Sheriff have come out against the so-called War on Drugs in this kpix tv article.

Says San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom:

“If you want to get serious, if you want to reduce crime by 70% in this country overnight, end this war on drugs,” he told reporters at City Hall on Thursday. “You want to get serious, seriously serious about crime and violence end this war on drugs.”

Says San Francisco Sheriff Mike Hennessey:

“No, the war on drugs is not working. The war on drugs is not working because we are relying on law enforcement instead of on treatment.”

More evidence that the War on Drugs is a failure, and needs to be replaced with compassion, understanding and personal choice!

McCain and Giuliani Say Terrible Things to a Medical Marijuana Patient

“Breathtaking ignorance from two of the top GOP candidates.”

http://stopthedrugwar.org…say_terrible

Both McCain and Giuliani sidestep the issue at hand–if medical marijuana works despite what the FDA says for certain individuals, who is the government to say that those patients cannot use it? And that’s not to mention that both candidates are lying about the evidence–just like the FDA does.

Vote Ron Paul so we can disband the useless and authoritarian FDA and DEA!
